Last month I predicted that Orange Rugs and Coral Rugs will soon become highly fashionable because these colors were a hot new trend in women's fashion for Spring-Summer 2012 on the January and February runway shows in Milan, Paris and New York. When I made that prediction, I had no idea that just a month after appearing on fashion runways these colors would be dominating the offerings at home furnishings retailer Crate and Barrel. I discovered the speed at which trends are jumping from women fashion to home furnishing last Saturday while taling a casual walk through Boston's upscale Chestnut Hill Mall.

An exciting new development at the 2012 Design Blogger Conference I attended last month in Los Angeles, was the announcement by Traditional Home Magazine that they had recognized the extensive reach, knowledge and influence of interior design bloggers by reaching out to them to "nominate designers whose evolved traditional aesthetic represents that of a New Trad. After pouring through hundreds of amazing submissions, we are pleased to announce both our 10 New Trads and the bloggers who nominated them" wrote Traditional Home. Several of the bloggers who had nominated the "10 New Trad Designers" were present at the Design Bloggers Conference and received resounding applause.

The 17th century Italian damask pattern of this green rug is colored with hundreds of subtle shades so it works as a neutral canvas. I can easily update the decor in the future by merely re-painting the walls and changing the fabrics to focus on different shades of green and different styles using the same damask rug.
