Best Seaside Interiors and Decorative Rugs in Maison Côté Sud

For the past fourteen years the French magazine Maison Côté Sud has featured gorgeous homes in Provence and in the Mediterranean region at large. It publishes the work of the most important interior designers and photographers. The pictures are always glorious and have a refreshing perspective on interior design and decorative rugs. I love their imaginative decorative rugs and choice of colors, patterns and textures.

The sea breeze blows right through this spectacular bedroom perched on a hill on a French island that has been preserved as a nature reserve. The simplicity of the decoration- rope weave beds, a blue and white geometric rug, and plain white curtains put you right in the midst of the sea.

Port Cros and Porquerolles are two magnificent wooded islands in the Mediterranean near the French Riveira towns of Toulon, Hyères and Saint Tropez. Most of the islands are a nature preserve so they have none of the crowds, concrete and noise of the coastal resorts. Motorized vehicles are not permitted in Port Cros and only a few cars are allowed in the village portion of Porquerolles. Smoking is also prohibited outside of the village. You can hire a bike and cycle around the hilly islands and through the Mediterranean forests.

Purple and orange decorative rugs spread on the beach create seating and dining areas around the motor home on a secluded beach in Beauduc, the Camargue.
Beauduc is a semi secret place in a nature reserve in a remote part of the Camargue in the Rhone delta. You have to find your way on unmarked and unpaved trails and go around dunes and drive through shallow saltwater ponds that are home to flamingoes. The beach is very wide and the Mistral winds blow through here from October to May.
