Gold on Black Aubusson Rugs Inspire Fall-Winter 2012 Womens Fashions
As a designer of decorative rugs, I look far and wide for inspiration. In yesterday's post the inspiration was nature and I posted pictures I took this spring and fall in Boston's Arnold Arboretum. Today's source of inspiration is women's fashion. I looks for sudden and drastic shifts in moods in women's fashion. They are usually an early trend forecaster of decorative rug fashions in the coming years.
We have had several years of minimalism so sooner or later women's fashions had to turn towards tradition and ornamentation. But I never expected such a sudden turn from minimalism to the Baroque. While this is one of four or five major trends in women's fashions, the fact that so many well known designers have ventured into it suggests it will have some staying power. Most amazing to me is that these black and gold baroque fashions are so reminiscent of Asmara's La Sarre Aubusson rug pictured at the end of this post.
Dolce & Gabbana introduced a collection of almost entirely black and gold Baroque looks inspired by baroque embroideries and Aubusson rugs.
