Elle Decor July 2017: 5 Best Rooms with Designer Rugs

Every month I read Architectural Digest, Elle Decor, Veranda, House Beautiful and Traditional Home as soon as they come out and each month I feature the two magazines that have the best rooms that month. This July Elle Decor once again surpassed with more outstanding rooms with designer rugs than any other magazine. Here are the 5 best of the best in July.

1. Blue, Red, Pink and Turquoise

John Robshaw assisted by designer Sara Bengur updated his house on a 9 acre farm in Sharon, Connecticut with an explosion of color and pattern. The entrance hall is enlivened by a blue and white geometric rug complemented by a custom red sofa upholstered in a blue and pink Robshaw cotton and a turquoise Egyptian mosque light.

“Robshaw is credited with helping to spark the current vogue for brightly hued interiors that use Asian and tribal geometrics in wholly contemporary ways” writes Elle Decor.

2. Red, Blue and Yellow

In John Robshaw’s living room a custom striped Dhurrie rug surprises us with bright orange, purple and emerald green stripes, a fireplace mantle painted lavender and brightly colored artwork all round.

3. Blue, White and Gold

In the family room of a seaside East Hampton retreat designed by John Kureck and Doug Jones, a blue-green contemporary rug anchors a B&B Italia sofa, a vintage Hans Wegner chair and an antique floor lamp.

4. Blue, Gray and Gold

Brockschmidt & Coleman bring their colorful classical style to a newly built house on a horse farm in Aiken, South Carolina. In the master bedroom a beige rug anchors a blue fabric upholstered headboard. The bed skirt and walls are in Brunschwig & Fils florals chint prints in blue, cream and green.

5. Blue. Gray, Black and Gold

In the living room Brockschmidt & Coleman used a beige and pink striped rug  to pull together a Louis XVI daybed and Louis XV armchairs covered in an aqua, yellow and red floral chintz and an antique Chinese lacquered cocktail table.
