Gray, Gold and Blue Rugs Enliven 2016 Kips Bay Decorator Show House

The 2016 Kips Bay Decorator Show House has set the design world abuzz by a stunning mix of the modern and traditional deftly unified by gorgeous designer rugs. I am particularly taken by the work of Suzanne Kasler, Phillip Thomas, Eve Robinson, Garrow Kedigian, Timothy Whealon, Kati Curtis, David Kleinberg, Olasky & Sinsteden, Jamie Drake and Caleb Anderson.

In the Suzanne Kasler designed family room in the 2016 Kips Bay Decorator Showhouse a Zieglar Sultanabad rug with colors resembling a gold and blue Oushak rug complements a white lacquered ceiling, cream walls and white and beige upholstery designed by Kasler for Hickory Chair.

In the designer Phillip Thomas’ “Lady Lair” a pale blue and gold custom rug with a Samarkand pomegranate pattern provides a counterpoint to graffiti covered fabric walls.

Chinoiserie-inspired wall panel by de Gournay pops against a navy and red oriental rug in the staircase landing designed by Kati Curtis.

In the sitting area designed by Eve Robinson a blue velvet upholstered modernist sofa, brown walls and silver and gray metallic ceiling are unified by a custom gray silk rug.

The newly formed partnership of Jamie Drake and Caleb Anderson created a luxurious atmosphere in the bedroom by wrapping moldings in fabric and anchoring the room with custom pale gray silk rug.

The Kiraz Oushak rug has a lustrous gray background with accents of blue, brown and white.

A custom cream geometric rug echoes geometric pattern of the bed canopy in the bedroom designed by Timothy Whealon.

Curving mirrored walls and ceiling are anchored by a blue and gold oriental rug in the library designed by David Kleinberg.

Bluish-green fabric covered walls and custom-made twin canopy beds create magical atmosphere in the bedroom designed by Olasky & Sinsteden.
