In Palm Beach, Delray Beach and Vero Beach, needlepoint rugs are the height of decorative fashion. So when Marc-Michaels Interior Design and Mark Timothy Luxury Homes were designing an 11,185 square foot spec home in Delray Beach, Florida they started with a fabulous handmade Gradella needlepoint rug to accentuate the 180 degree ocean views from the living room. The Gradella needlepoint rug’s many shades of blues, golds and corals pick up the changing colors of the ocean and sky throughout the day and evening. The scrolling vines and floral elements of Gradella were inspired by the northern Italian countryside. Image courtesy Florida Design Magazine.
The vast expanses of blue ocean and blue sky would have made this living room feel cold had the interior designers not balanced the cool blues with warm colors. Marc-Michaels chose the Gradella needlepoint rug because it already had a harmonious balance of cool and warm colors- the blues and greens are balanced by warm golds, corals and browns. In fact the Gradella needlepoint rug provided the interior designers their entire color palette for the room. They selected their fabrics, wall colors and accessories by checking them against a 2’x3′ corner sample of the Gradella rug provided by Asmara.
The gold and blue Scalamandre silk chair fabric, the tan and blue pillows and the blue throw continue the theme of balancing cool and warm colors which makes the home feel inviting while the spectacular decor and ocean views make it irresistible.
When the current owners saw the house, they felt it had been designed for them and bought it.
