1). Nantucket Master Bedroom
In 2012, a Connecticut family purchased 1.4 acres on Nantucket and built their dream house. The master bedroom, designed by Cynthia Hayes, uses a calming palette of blues, greens and neutrals. She used a sunrise purple-blue flat weave area rug to ground the room. Photographed by John Bessler.

2). Kiawah Island Game Room
Kiawah Island, on the coast of South Carolina, has this Shingle-style summer home that wanted to be less beachy and more elegant. Tammy Connor designed the game room which features a bar, pool table and a sitting area with four green lounge chairs atop a custom plaid patterned flat weave rug. Photographed by Erica Dines.
3). Walloon Lake Side Hall
Atlanta designer Beth Webb was delighted to decorate this vacation home on Walloon Lake in northern Michigan. The main entrance and side hall both use striped espresso and beige rugs. Photographed by Emily Jenkins Followill.
4). Nantucket Screened Porch
This Nantucket house is surrounded by porches. Designer Jane Forman used an indoor-outdoor rug featuring text from a story by famed 17th-century French fabulist, Jean de La Fontaine. Photographed by John Bessler.
5). WaterSound Master Bedroom

6). Nantucket Dining Room
This is designer Susan Zises Green’s Shaker-style summer home, which was built in the 1820’s on Nantucket. Her dining room boasts a custom stenciled cowhide rug. Photographed by Eric Roth.

7). Grand Traverse Bay Living Room

9). East Hampton Living Room
